Meet Our Volunteers
Career Team
Christine Ho
Hi, I’m Yen-Hsin Ho, and everyone calls me Christine. I am a volunteer of the career team and a member of the career insight group. I am responsible for interviewing the stories of entrepreneurs around me. The interview content will also be published on the Taiwan Next volunteer website.
I immigrated to the United States around five and half years ago. I still remember that when I first started living in the United States, I felt very hard because I came here alone to work and had no friends around me. I also remember that there were several times when I almost gave up and wanted to go back to Taiwan because I couldn’t find a job or a house. Later, around two years ago, I followed Katie’s fan page through Facebook and got to know the Taiwan Next organization. For me, it was such a blessing because I was able to meet a group of Taiwanese people in a foreign country, and they were willing to help me find a job and a house.
Last September, I also attended the Taiwan Tech Summit. After the event, I decided to stay and become a volunteer for Taiwan Next. I knew how difficult it was for Taiwanese immigrants to come to the United States, so I wanted to contribute more to Taiwanese organizations.
I have extensive work experience in the retail industry in the United States, including supermarkets, retail stores, clothing stores, and boba tea shops, etc. My current job is an office assistant in a leasing office, mainly responsible for accounting and cashier work. At the same time, I am also taking courses at Community College, hoping to obtain accounting-related certificates in the future.

Sidney Hsu
Hi everyone, this is Sidney (can called me 雪梨) and very glad to join the Taiwan Next big family. I want to join as i think this is a great platform to contribute back to the Taiwan Community, just like I had been received the help from others. I came here to study Aerospace Engineering master at UCSD, and landing a engineering job on compute hardware industry in bay area. Right now I'm writing software at AWS.
I love to do volunteer work and any outdoor activities (open to new stuff :P) when I'm free.

I joined Taiwan Next to meet more Taiwanese people in the Bay Area, connect with the culture, and network in tech! I’m an ABT from San Jose and visit Taiwan every other year, so I’m always looking to make new Taiwanese friends, 練習中文, and grow my network especially as I’m currently job hunting in UX design.
I’m a UX designer looking for a full-time role. I’m open to most fields but I have a particular interest in government, healthcare, and education. In college, I studied chemical engineering at UC Berkeley and worked in beauty product development, but I transitioned to UX after graduation because I love design and understanding human behavior. Feel free to view my UX portfolio: https://jocelynsu.me
I love to Yelp (6 years Elite), sing karaoke, and explore fun things to do around the Bay Area (Oakland First Fridays, hiking Mt. Tam, free museum days, etc.).

Leon (Li-An) Yang
Hello Taiwan Next volunteers! My name's Leon, born and raised in Taoyuan, Taiwan. Currently a Software Engineer at LinkedIn, I have been working on business around Recommender Systems in the Bay Area for 5 years.
I joined Taiwan Next with a desire to not only draw experience from the professionals to organize large-scale events, but also to relive my fun time as an Activity Director for Taiwanese Graduate School Association at UC San Diego.
I enjoy doing various outdoor activities and have recently developed an interest in studying how to better take care of my body, acknowledging that I'm not as young anymore 😅. I also try to travel all over whenever I get a chance! I want to share with you my lifetime memories of visiting the Paris Olympics last summer and supporting fellow Taiwanese athletes at the gold medal games. What a blast and a dream come true to me!

Hi everyone! I’m Min – it’s great to meet you! I joined Taiwan Next because I hope to help create a supportive network for my daughters — one that opens doors to future jobs, friendships, and opportunities to learn Chinese. They’ll be graduating from college and returning to the Bay Area this summer. I have a background in accounting and currently work in government.
In my free time, I enjoy RV trips and discovering new places. I’m really looking forward to meeting more of you and being part of this community.
